Week 1, Term Three
Welcome back to our students and families to Term Three!
We hope that you have had a restful and healthy break!
We would love to welcome Ms/Miss Charlotte Read to the Grade One and Two Team, who will be teaching 2B when Mrs Dimitriou begins her maternity leave.
SPECIALIST PROGRAM FOR TERM THREE
Students and families will notice a change in the specialist program for this term. This includes students that were learning AUSLAN in Semester One, will now be taking on STEM, and those that were learning STEM will now have AUSLAN lessons.
We will share this information with families ASAP!
GYMNASTICS
Our FIVE WEEK gymnastics program begins this week on Thursday. We are looking forward to this annual program organised by Mr O'Dywer.
Many thanks to the families who have given permission and paid for this activity.
A few things extra things to consider for our Gymnastics program-
*for ease of movement, tracksuit pants or leggings are best to wear for these sessions
*this program is in bare feet - please ensure students are not wearing tights on this day. You may like to practice with your child putting on their own shoes and socks.
*all long hair should be tied back for our gymnastics sessions
*Our students will have modified eating times on these days, so we encourage you to pack additional snacks for our hungry athletes.

📖✏️Literacy
Mentor Text: A poem about Wonga Park.
This poem gives some historical content to the beginnings of Wonga Park Primary School, and tries to give student an understanding of what life may have been like. Students will be engaging in vocabulary, looking at the meaning of the text and seeking out the rhyming components.
What can you do at home?
-Nessy is a great resource to use to supplement your child's reading in a fun engaging way on their iPad
-Ask comprehension questions about your child's take home book or a book you read together
-Ask your child to tell you a word that rhymes with ...
-Ask your child rhyming questions like - 'Does catch and batch rhyme?' or 'Does catch and cat rhyme?' Discuss their answers
➕Maths
This week we will be looking at mass and capacity and ways in which we informally measure and compare. Students will be building their vocabulary of comparing different masses or capacities of objects.
What can you do at home?
-Involve your child in cooking tasks where they need to measure out ingredients. Talk about what you have more of, the same as.
-Engage with mathseeds (Grade One) or mathletics (Grade Two)
🌏 CBL - Change
With our school community already looking ahead to Term Four, when we will celebrate our school's 130th birthday, our Big Idea of 'Change' lends itself perfectly to our students learning about the history of Wonga Park as a community, and the history of our school.
Students will begin this week by creating some 'wonderings' about our community.
School Wide Positive Behaviour: We will continue to be kind, be safe and be a learner especially when playing outside during playtimes.
