Mr Jim Noble, Assistant Head of College - Boarding
Last weekend was one of great anticipation and excitement as the boarders played their final game of rugby and soccer for Term 2. With close to 100% of boarders participating in sport, it was great to see the boys finish the season in a really positive way. A number had the added bonus of their team playing for a premiership which is a great achievement in such a competitive competition. To make the day even more memorable, all the boarders provided the nucleus of what was sensational cheering for the 1st XI Football and 1st XV Rugby teams in their final matches. I was very proud of the boys for the positive way they wore the school uniform and the positive way that they supported our teams in close contests against our rivals at Padua College. It was a memorable day and one our boarders will remember for a long time.
The remainder of last weekend provided an opportunity for the boys to rest and get some study done, with many having assessments due this week. We had a BBQ breakfast for our boarding community on Sunday morning, followed by an outdoor Mass in the Grandstand at 9:00am which was an intentional variation to our regular routine for Masses. Many of the younger boarders headed off to the Bounce trampolining centre after lunch - they always enjoy this outing. It was a great weekend as we close in on the end of a busy term.
Just a reminder to all boarding parents and guardians to use the REACH program to submit arrangements for your son’s departure for the upcoming holidays. The last day of classes for boarders is next Monday, with Tuesday 24 June being a designated travel day for boarders (they are not expected to attend classes that day).
All boarders are due back next term by 8:00pm on Monday 14 July. Again, communicate details of your son’s return via REACH. The boarding residences will not be open or staffed until 12:00pm on this date, so please be mindful of this when making plans.
Thanks so much to everyone in our boarding community for your support this term. I’d like to wish you all a lovely school holiday period and hopefully some quality time spent together with family.
