WEP Student Exchange Open Day – Saturday 24 February, 1pm to 4pm

World Education Program are opening the doors of their Melbourne office on Saturday 24th February 2024 to tell your high school students about exchange opportunities available to them – either short term, Semester or year long exchange program to countries throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America. To find out who WEP is and what WEP does visit About WEP Australia. At the WEP Melbourne Open Day event students will learn:

  • About complementing their secondary studies with an academic exchange program through a live Information Session and the value of second language acquisition. 
  • Who the WEP Team are and why we are so passionate about exchange (most of us are returned exchange students ourselves!). 
  • What exchange is really like from recently returned students. These students will be available all afternoon for students to chat to.

Projects Abroad webinar: Overseas Medical Experience for high school students – Tuesday 27 February at 6:30pm

Projects Abroad has been running overseas programs for over 15 years and their most popular High School Special Medicine option is the Nepal program. You can view a leaflet outlining this project by clicking here. These programs also run in countries such as Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Tanzania, and Kenya.

These programs are designed for students in years 10, 11, and 12 and run in the mid-year break and over our summer holiday. Students will spend time in hospitals, community health settings, and workshops with local doctors. These projects are a fantastic first step into a career in healthcare within a group of likeminded students. Full 24/7 supervision and care is provided by the Projects Abroad local staff. UTAS Maria Island Marine Biology Experience – applications close 26 February

University of Tasmania will be running a practical learning experience on Maria Island from Aprill 22 to April 28 in 2024 for year 11 and 12 students. This predominately field-based unit consists of 5 days on picturesque Maria Island on the Tasmanian East Coast. The unit is open to 24 students and is designed to engage, challenge, excite and inspire you through a hands-on marine science program. It will encourage you to explore issues threatening biodiversity as well as the productivity of the marine system. Climate change, invasive species, pollution, debris and their associated social and economic impacts will be covered.

To help with the cost of getting to Tasmania, year 11 and 12 students currently living interstate will automatically go into the running to receive one of five fully funded packages.

University of Sunshine Coast ‘Best Field Trip in the World’ competition – applications close 3 June 

Year 11 and 12 students across Australia have the chance to win a place on the UniSC best field trip in the world, a four-day adventure running this year from Friday 21 June to Monday 24 June. The lucky 5 winners of this competition will get to partake in four days of exhilarating experiences, including exclusive behind-the-scenes access with UniSC experts on hand at every stop.
