SUSTAINABILITY NEWS

What a fabulous productive day we had today! We added 1000 new worms to our four worm bins! These are 15 litre bins and have holes drilled into them so the worms can move into the buckets and out into the soil. Gardening Club students soaked coir bricks in water to make bedding in the bottom and then fed them some delicious food scraps and placed shredded paper on top to insulate them. The worms have made such rich, nutritious soil for us in their worm farms.

Year 3/4TR worked with Ms Belinda today. We learned that when we put food scraps into landfill, it screates “methane” - one of the gasses that cause global warming. So this is why we want to compost our food waste at Trinity. The students emptied the “castings” (worm poo) from our worm farms and we dug it into our soil. They also planted carrots and silverbeet. We look forward to making vegetable soup to share in Winter!

PARENTS - SAVE THE DATE THIS SATURDAY MORNING!

Please come and help make our school look beautiful this Saturday!

Come along and help for however long you can on the day! We would like to plant the front area near the sign with some pretty plants. There will be jobs available for all ability levels. Even half an hour would be really helpful.

Saturday 17h February 9.30am - 11.30am.

Our building works are now starting which means our Going Solar initative is looking close to beginning again. We look forward to updating you soon!

NUDE FOOD DAY - MONDAYS

We ask students to choose foods which create no rubbish to bring for lunch on this day. Some great ideas can be found at https://www.nudefoodday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/HOW-TO-PACK-A-NUDE-FOOD-LUNCH.pdf
