Lauren Davenport (6 Jenkin) and                                     Stella McIntosh (6 Jenkin)

On Monday 22 January, Year 6 students Lauren Davenport and Stella McIntosh brought home well-deserved silver and bronze medals from the major All Country Victoria Championship, where they competed against 70 Victorian girls in their age group over three big days in Traralgon.

Lauren qualified for all finals over the weekend. The most exciting was the 50-metre butterfly when both Lauren and Stella made it to the finals, racing each other neck and neck (lane 5 and lane 6). It was an epic to see two Girton classmates (and best friends) racing each other, challenging each other and supporting each other. The result was close, with Lauren coming second and Stella third by 0.08 seconds.

Grace Beattie (5 Jenkin)

Congratulations to Grace Beattie who spent many hours writing, editing, re- writing and re-reading her story The Turtle. She was awarded third prize in the 10- to 17-year-old Junior Flash Fiction category of the Fellowship of Australian Writers Free Spirits Writing Competition. The theme of the competition was 'A Friend in Need',  to promote mental health awareness.
