Principal's Message

It is with great enthusiasm and a sense of optimism that I extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you. Although we have only just started this new school year, the energy and buzz around our school is evident. As we dive into the year 2024, our aim is to provide enriching experiences and opportunities for all our students, fostering an environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive.

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming eight new Prep students to our Bolinda Primary School family. It's been delightful watching them adjust and integrate into our school community. Additionally, we are proud to introduce ten Year Six students who are eager to take on the roles of role models and leaders within our school. We hope everyone has a memorable year.

Groundworks

I am thrilled to share some exciting news about the positive changes that have taken place on our school grounds, thanks to the collective efforts and generosity of our wonderful school community.

Over the holidays, significant concrete works were completed, transforming an area that was once dusty and scattered with loose rocks into useful space. This transformation wouldn't have been possible without the contribution from the funds raised by the families of Bolinda Primary School. Previously, the area posed challenges with dust and scattered rocks, making it less than ideal for various activities. Now it is the perfect space for a variety of activities especially for our Kitchen Garden Program.

Picnic Tables

Speaking of improvements, we have now put our picnic tables out on the new concrete under the pergola. These were purchased by our Fundraising Team last year and we held off on putting them out until we had the area perfected. They will certainly be put to good use over the year.

Home Chats

We will be hosting our Home Chats from the week of February 12th. This is a valuable chance for you to connect with your child's class teacher. Establishing a positive and supportive relationship at this early stage can greatly benefit your child's learning journey.

These meetings allow you to offer insights into your child's unique qualities and share essential information that may be instrumental in tailoring the best support for their learning needs. Your input is highly valued in ensuring a whole picture of understanding of your child's academic and personal development.

Our Home Chats sessions will be released on Monday via Compass.

Family BBQ

Just wanted to give you a heads up about the Bolinda Primary School Family BBQ happening on Wednesday, February 28th.

We're kicking things off at 5:30 pm and crossing our fingers for some decent weather. The school's got the sausages and bread covered, so bring along any extras that you usually have with your BBQ meals. This event offers an excellent opportunity for families to come together, enjoy good food, and create connections. We are looking forward to seeing the school filled with all of our families.

Compass

This is the first year we're using Compass and we're anticipating some adjustments as we get used to the new management system. One big change is that we have an online kiosk that you will need to use when you drop off or pick up your child after the morning bell as occurred. This will strengthen our ability to monitor who is in the school. For now, the kiosk is placed in the main office area and is very easy to use. Whenever you need to drop off your child late or pick them up early, you will need to use the kiosk. Katie or I will be usually available to walk you through it.

Ranges Music Network

This is a message from Ranges Music Network:

The Ranges Music Network is excited to be back making music with all of our creative individuals in Term 1!

We have an exciting new program replacing our group lesson format -- called Launchpad!  It is a hybrid of individual and ensemble learning that will launch your musicians into the world of 'speaking' and sharing in the language of music.  We're all very excited for what opportunities it will bring.

For younger musicians just getting started, our play-based Discovery Club is a fun way to try a bit of Guitars, Keyboards, Drums, Voices and more to explore and develop our musical vocabulary.  Foundation musicians can join in the fun from Term 2.

To get started please reach out via email to shaun@rangesmusic.net or text 0449922425.  You can learn more at https://rangesmusic.net.

Year 5 & 6 Somers Camp

This year it is Bolinda Primary School's turn to attend Somers School Camp. The camp is run by the Department of Education that offers Year 5 and 6 students a chance to attend every two years. The Bolinda Primary Schools students are joined by other students from schools within the Macedon Ranges. We will be allocated a limited number of places for students to attend. I will post further information as I receive it from the Department of Education

Thank you,
