Prep

With the last few days of school approaching us it is lovely to reflect on the growth and achievement our students have made this year. We are so proud of each and every Prep student and the special place they hold in our RHPS community.

The transition to Grade 1 went smoothly and they are bursting with excitement to continue their journey.

We have been learning how to write letters and wrote an end of year letter to our buddies. We had our end of year celebration together playing games and eating icy poles!

We have made some beautiful Christmas crafts and hope you are enjoying these at home.

To help celebrate the end of year we enjoyed an incursion from the Flying Bookworm retelling some favourite Christmas stories.

Thank you for an amazing year and we look forward to seeing you next year!

Merry Christmas

Grade 1 & 2

The Grade 1 & 2s enjoyed their special visit from Yarra Valley Water. They learnt about what they can do to save water and took home a "water watcher"!

What a wonderful year we have had in Grade 1 & 2 in 2023! So many fun times, lots of new friendships made and of course lots of learning!

We would like to thank all of the families for their support over the year and for those that have volunteered their time to help out in classrooms. We hope you find time over the holidays to rest and recharge ready for 2024.

Have a wonderful holiday and a safe and happy new year.

Grade 3 & 4

Wow! What a fabulous year we have had in Grade 3&4.

The year started with a fun camp to Phillip Island, the Grade 3s successfully completed NAPLAN, we visited Eastland to complete activities as part of the "It's not Rocket Science" program, we were inspired by a local author and went swimming. We have also enjoyed sports sessions as a level, athletics day, cross country and learnt games with the students from Lilydale High School.

This week have completed our multi-genre writing focus and all students showcased their published writing to the level today. Look at the following photos of some of our excellent work.

The Grade 3/4 team would like to thank all students and their families for contributing to make this year a phenomenal year of learning and fun.

We wish everyone a safe and relaxing holiday and new year.

Grade 5 & 6

Wow! We can’t believe the end of the term, and the 2023 school year is here already!

Even though it’s the end of term, grade 5/6 have still been busy the past two weeks.

In Reading, students continued exploring texts during Lit Circles, taking on roles such as Summeriser, Illustrator, Discussion Director, Connector, and Vocab Enricher to explore texts in a deep level. We have loved seeing students take on these roles and enjoy exploring literature.

In Maths, we spent time doing a student-led recap of the concepts we’ve covered this year. Student let their teachers know what they wanted to revise and looked at their numeracy learning goals in order to spend time closing some gaps in understanding before they move on to their 2024 adventures.

In Writing, students have been hard at work with their Writer’s Passion Project. Collating a collection of their best writing pieces across multiple genres and text types to showcase all that they have learnt this year. These will be sent home soon and we can’t wait for you to see all the fantastic stories, informative pieces and persuasives that these little authors have created.

Our fundraising efforts have come to an end in Inquiry, and we would like to thank you all for your support and involvement in raising money for graduation, the end of year fun day and the Cancer Council. It was fantastic seeing the whole school enjoy their ice creams and wearing their best Christmas outfits.

Speaking of graduation, Grade 6 had a wonderful night on Tuesday celebrating their completion of primary school and reminiscing on how far they have come. Thank you to those who attended to help celebrate our wonderful Grade 6 students. We are so excited for you all to have lots of new adventures in high school next year!

Our Grade 5 students met their teachers and classmates for next year and are looking forward to being the next leaders of the school!

We had a final buddy session on Friday, exchanging cards, playing games and enjoying a treat. This was also a chance for grade 6 to say goodbye to their grade 1 buddies. Well done to our prep friends on finishing their first ever year of school!

As the 5/6 teaching team we want to thank you all for another fantastic year. We have had an amazing time learning and growing together and wish everyone the very best for the future whether that is at Rolling Hills or beyond. We hope you have a happy holidays and a safe summer break.
