From the Head of the Junior School

As we close the school year for 2023, I’d like to thank parents for all they do at our school. We don’t ask our parents to be clients, or patrons, but to be partners with us to educate and grow your children. Our staff count it a privilege to do this work and appreciate the chance to work with parents on this journey.

Since arriving at BMGS at the beginning of last year, I have been impressed by the involvement of our parents. Over many years, parents have been involved in the Junior School, building community, helping out and raising funds to improve the school. In recent years, this has been led by Bonnie Mamo and Magdalena Herceg and both of these women have been so active in the P&F. Mick Magill has also been a servant-hearted leader of the P&F team.

This year, the Springwood P&F has continued to be led by Sarah and Mark Rogers, and the Wentworth Falls team has been led by Jane Miskovic-Wheatley, with assistance from Courtney Pascoe and Catharine Tierney. Both campuses have small armies of dedicated helpers who jump in at all times to be involved and to lend a helping hand. These teams have worked together to achieve some brilliant fundraising goals this year, and to build a warm sense of community at both of our campuses.

Regular get togethers like morning and afternoon teas have given parents an opportunity to get to know one another. In particular this has been really appreciated by our new parents. Running cafes at school musicals and concerts has meant that guests have a comfortable place to wait while they attend these great events. The P&F have run picnic afternoons and evenings and been present at Orientation Days. The pre-loved uniform stalls have been a useful and helpful fundraiser at both campuses.

Our children have enjoyed Disco fundraisers, Mothers Day and Fathers Day stalls, Movie nights, gingerbread making evenings, hot cross buns, bulbs and artwork fundraisers and much more! The money raised this year will go towards supporting Wild Ed resources and playground improvements at both of our campuses. These are the kinds of resources that enhance the equipment we have for learning and playing, and help make Grammar the excellent school that it is.

A HUGE thank you to our parents for their hard work and support this year. It’s very much appreciated.

I hope all our families have a restful and joyful break over Christmas.
