Just like that we are in our final weeks of 2023. We can't believe how quick it has gone.
Literacy
In writing, we have been reviewing concepts taught earlier in the semester. We revisited topics such as evaluative language, subjective language and objective language. We reviewed why it's important to know the difference between the three and how we can use this language to enhance our writing.
In Reading, We have looked at the illustrator Bruce Wately and his illustration style through different texts. We read the Jackie French texts, flood, fire, cyclone and drought. We discussed how Bruce Wately used watercolours to create illustrations to match the natural disaster.
Numeracy
In Numeracy, we reviewed topics learnt during our statistics and probability unit. We extended our knowledge on this topic and looked at how variables can change. In ⅚ we have also had a go at some different problem solving tasks. We have used everything we have learnt this year such as; fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and so much more to help us solve open ended problems.
Knowledge - Celebrations around the World
Students have been learning about different celebrations all around the world. We looked at festivals like Diwali and Martaiki. Students had the opportunity to share celebrations that are special to them and how their families like to celebrate during this time.
Year 6 Graduation
Our Year 6 students have been working very hard getting prepared for their end of year graduation celebrations. Students are creating a silhouette display with everything they have enjoyed about this year. They have also been practising their graduation song and can't wait for their graduation evening.
Graduation will be held on Thursday the 14th of December all information has been posted to compass. We can't wait to see you all there!
