The Year is nearly over and we are so proud of the Year 4 students! The Year 4 teachers would like to extend a thank you to all parents and carers for your support this year and wish everyone a safe and relaxing break.

Literacy

In Literacy, we have continued to develop our fluency during paired reading and are consolidating our understanding of prefixes and suffixes in Morphology. While Writing, students have been reviewing their knowledge of persuasive language and how they can persuade a range of audiences to their point of view. Students are extending their knowledge of persuasive devices by including rhetorical questions, emotive language and hyperboles in their writing.

Hallie & Aryal from 4A focusing on their prosody and rate during paired fluency reading.

Core Knowledge

Our Core Knowledge this term has focused on Celebrations around the world. We have studied celebrations such as Diwali, La Fallas, Christmas and many others. Students have learned about traditions and customs from a range of cultures and countries and the history and importance behind these.

Maths

In Numeracy, we had a big focus on reviewing our multiplication and division knowledge. Students have been continuing to develop their understanding of the link between multiplication and division and how they can use this to solve simple equations. Along with a range of strategies students are using the C.U.B.E.S method to solve worded problems.
