Firstly, congratulations to Thomas Jones, Rob Anderson and Michelle Peut who have successfully acquired new roles this year. Thomas will become our Old Boys Engagement Officer, Rob the Careers Support Officer and Michelle Head of Innovation and Pedagogy. In addition to these new appointments, 11 new staff members will join us in 2024.
Paul Keyte
Paul will join us in the Science Department. He is a passionate Physics teacher and has a thorough knowledge of the subject. Paul has a long history of working at Melbourne High School and knows boys education well. We look forward to his experience and expertise in these areas.
Stephen Williams
Stephen will join our Maths Department. He has been working at Mount St Bernard College in Herberton in Term 4, and St John’s College, Nambour before that. Stephen will bring energy and warmth to our classrooms and build positive relationships with students along the way. Stephen also enjoys being involved in extra-curricular aspects of school-life. He will be a welcome addition to Saints.
Andrei Dobrota
Andrei joins us from Newman College where he has been a head of year for the past three years, as well as a Maths teacher. Andrei is passionate about boys education and developing rapport with them. Andrei also has a passion for service, and is keen to be involved in this aspect of extra-curricular activity within the College.
Lee Wilson
Lee was a pre-service teacher with us in 2020 and is excited to return as a teacher. Lee joins us from Trinity Bay and will be working in the Humanities and Social Sciences Department. Lee is enthusiastic about his subject and demonstrates creativity in the classroom. We look forward to him joining Saints.
Chris Lee
We welcome Chris Lee as a PE teacher. Chris was most recently at St Andrew’s and joins Saints from where he graduated in 2014. Chris is keen to return as a graduate teacher and be involved in all aspects of college life.
Laura Harland
Laura joins us from St Andrew’s and will be in the Science Department. Laura is an early-career teacher after changing careers a couple of years ago. Her passion is biology and she is keen to develop as a teacher.
Christine Smith
Christine joins the Learning Enrichment Department. We know Christine from her time working in the Gildas Centre and most recently, relief teaching. Prior to that, Christine spent a number of years at Djarragun College closely involved with curriculum development and adjustment. Her skills and knowledge will be invaluable to the College.
Greg Azzopardi
Greg joins the Technologies Department as Technologies Assistant. He joins us from Goondi State School. Greg has trade experience and has moved to Cairns this year to begin an education degree. We welcome him to Saints.
Jordan Adams
The Saints community extends a warm welcome to Jordan, who comes from Gqeberha, South Africa. As a full-time boarder herself in South Africa, and a boarding prefect, Jordan is looking forward to working with our senior girls and staff. She enjoys playing sport, spending time in the outdoors and hopes to play club hockey in Cairns.
Ruby Kelly
Ruby is excited to be joining the St Augustine’s College staff as her family has been part of the Marist community in Canberra for over three decades with her uncles, brother and cousins all attending Marist College Canberra. She is a keen runner and netball player and can't wait to leave the chilly Canberra weather for the warmth of Far North Queensland.
Hamish Minehan
Saints welcomes Hamish Minehan to Cairns in 2024 and will work in boarding. For the past five years, Hamish has been a boarder at St Gregory’s College, Campbelltown in the western suburbs of Sydney. A lover of all sports, he particularly enjoys cricket, rugby league and rugby union which he captained in the Seconds at St Gregory’s.
Angus Ryan
Angus comes to Saints after growing up and attending primary school in Dubbo, Central West NSW. In 2021 he started boarding at St Gregory's Campbelltown for his senior schooling, graduating last year. Angus enjoys playing rugby league and rugby union along with watching cricket during summer. He is looking forward to exploring and seeing a new part of Australia while making new connections and friendships.
