Secondary Diocesan Cricket, Epic Showdown: Year 6 Takes on Staff in Thrilling Touch Football and Netball Battle!
In an adrenaline-packed clash of generations, our Year 6 students recently went head-to-head with our St Phillies staff members in an exhilarating touch football and netball showdown.
The touch football game kicked off with boundless energy and enthusiasm. Year 6 showcased their impressive agility, quick thinking and team spirit. On the other side, our esteemed staff demonstrated that age is just a number, showcasing their skills and strategic teamwork. The field echoed with cheers and laughter as the two teams engaged in a friendly yet fiercely competitive match. Not to be outdone, the netball court became a stage for agility, precision, and lightning-fast passes. The Year 6 netball team, fueled by determination, gave their all against the Staff. The game was a true display of sportsmanship and camaraderie, with each team showcasing their unique strengths and skills.
While the scoreboard may have declared a winner, the real victory was the shared experience of fun, teamwork, and healthy competition that will be cherished by all involved.
On Tuesday 5 December, our St Philomena's Secondary Cricket Team played against St Mary's Gunnedah in Moree. It was a tough match with some excellent cricketing skills displayed by both teams. St Mary's were too good on the day, scoring 120 runs off 20 overs. Jono Dawson was the best bowler for St Phillies with 2/5 and a catch! We appreciate St Mary's lending us some players, who contributed significantly to our batting and fielding efforts. Most importantly, the sportsmanship shown was excellent! Congratulations to both teams on a fantastic match.
