Thank you to our Mini Vinnies Team and the SJAT for leading the call to help those in need this Christmas by supporting the work of St Vincent de Paul. Thank you also to all of the wonderful St Brendan’s families who donated grocery items for the Christmas Hamper Appeal. The Mini Vinnies representatives, Kaity, Chace, Georgia & Catherine packed 72 hampers for those in need at the Western Port distribution centre on Monday, December 4th. They worked in collaboration with students from all three Western Port Parish Schools; St Mary’s, St Joseph’s and St Brendan’s. What a great effort! Tom Leyden, the president of the St Vincent de Paul Westernport conference, sincerely thanked the students and all of our generous families for bringing a little Christmas cheer to those in need through the project this year.

Advent
The season of advent commenced on Sunday, December 3rd. At this time, Catholic Christians around the world also commence Year B, the Liturgical Year of Mark.
Caritas Australia has produced an excellent collection of resources for families and schools to use throughout Advent. This interactive Advent Calendar uses the See-Judge-Act-Pray concept to guide daily reflection on Scripture, Advent themes and Caritas stories, along with ideas for action and prayer. Please also see the attached PDF for further reflection and reading for families.
When and how might you use these resources in your home throughout Advent?
Supporting Caritas
Please also remember the charitable work of Caritas Australia through the annual Global Gifts campaign. For more information and/or to donate please visit the Caritas webpage here.
Catholic Baptism
For families considering The Sacrament of Catholic Baptism for their child/ren, please contact the Western Port Parish Centre on (03) 5979 4374. Should you make Baptism arrangements with the Parish, please inform me so that this special milestone for your child can be acknowledged within the school community. Please also forward a copy of your child’s Baptism Certificate to the school so that this can be reflected in the school records.
Families who wish for their children to receive any sacrament or The Rite of Reception through the parish, have been requested by Fr Shymon to make timely arrangements, as adequate preparation is required. This is especially important when families wish to enroll in school sacramental preparation programs, such as First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation. Please consider this advice in preparation for our school sacramental programs for 2024.
Christian Initiation for Adults: RCIA
