Make a Joyful Noise

Music at MECS

The Instrumental Music Program at Mount Evelyn Christian School

At Mount Evelyn Christian School, we believe in nurturing the creative and musical talents of our students. Our Instrumental Music Program is a vibrant part of our educational offering, and we are excited to share with you all the remarkable opportunities it provides for our students.

Weekly Music Lessons for Diverse Instruments

Our Instrumental Music Program is designed to cater to the diverse interests and talents of our students. We offer weekly lessons for a wide range of instruments, including piano, keyboard, ukulele, guitar (both acoustic and electric), bass guitar, drums, voice (offering both contemporary and classical training), and violin. No matter which instrument resonates with your child, we have a place for them in our program.

Expertise and Dedication of Our Tutors

At the heart of our program are our professional music tutors, who are not only accomplished musicians but also dedicated educators. These tutors bring a wealth of experience, both in group settings and one-on-one instruction. More importantly, they exhibit Christ-like qualities that help students grow not only as musicians but as individuals. They provide guidance, mentorship, and support throughout the musical journey of our students.

Preparing for Musical Excellence

Whether your child's musical aspirations include playing in church or a band, taking AMEB exams, improvisation, composition, music theory, VCE music or exploring various genres, our program equips them with the skills and knowledge they need. We foster an environment where creativity and skill development go hand in hand.

Flexible Lesson Options

To accommodate the varying needs of our students, lessons are available in multiple durations, from 20 minutes to 60 minutes. Lessons are taken during class time (some during break), and we also offer paired lessons with another student. Private lessons are an excellent way for students to develop their individual musical gifts, receiving personalized attention and guidance.

Building Musical Gifts

Our Instrumental Music Program goes beyond teaching music. It helps students unlock their musical potential, develop their unique talents, and grow as individuals. Through the art of music, students can find an avenue to express themselves, connect with their Creator, and contribute to our community in meaningful ways.

We are proud to offer a platform that encourages students to explore the world of music, grow as musicians, and develop the Christ-like qualities that are at the core of our educational mission.

If your child is interested in joining the program or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mr Tristan Forrest (Instrumental Coordinator) via email: tforrest@mecs.vic.edu.au.
