From the Principal

An important part of our school is how we celebrate our success stories.

Everyday all our staff are celebrating the individual achievements of their students.

At our weekly school assemblies we present THRIVE awards that recognise some of these important achievements.

In our Annual Implementation Plan (12 month school strategic plan) we have had a range of targets set in the teaching and learning and wellbeing spaces.

Our core targets were focused on NAPLAN, Student Attitude to School Survey, DET Staff Survey and DET Parent Survey. Our school results are then compared to Similar Schools, Network Schools and the State. For the first time in a number of years, we performed better than all these measure. These outstanding results can be attributed to a number of reasons:

  1. Langwarrin Park Primary School is very fortunate to have outstanding school leaders. Our school leaders from all levels of school have directly influenced change at a classroom level (for both Teaching and Learning and Wellbeing Priorities).
  2. At Langwarrin Park Primary School we have high functioning teams. Every week all our teams take a very student centred approach to their work. It is very data focused work so the curriculum meets the needs of all students.
  3. All staff having the highest possible expectations on students (for behaviour and learning).
  4. Langwarrin Park Primary parents and carers taking an active involvement in the life of our school.

All of these things directly impact on our student outcomes.

In my final newsletter item in a couple of weeks time, I will outline what our 2024 school priorities will be.

Slime Time

Most people know I love to embrace some silliness on occasions. Having nearly 40 litres of slime dumped on a couple of weeks was great fun. All our kids did an amazing job raising money as part of our school's Colour Run. The money raised goes directly back to the school to assist with building our Decodable Reader library across the school.

Grade 5 and 6 Footsteps Performance

On Monday night our Grade 5 and 6 students had their Footsteps performance on the oval. This is the first time we have used the Footsteps Company to organise this type of school event. It was great to see our Grade 5 and 6 students involving themselves in different types of dance. For some, this would have been well outside their comfort zone and I think it is important that on ocassions we push students outside their normal zones.

Christmas Singalong

Our Whole School Family Christmas Singalong is fast approaching.

Please RSVP on the next page to go into the draw to win 1 of 6 BBQ meat packs.  We will have Langwarrin Fire Brigade BBQ there selling dinner or bring along a picnic...there will be a coffee van too and maybe even a visit from a SPECIAL guest...ho, ho, ho!

Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony

Our Grade 6s are busily preparing for our upcoming Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony at EMC. This such an important milestone event for our Grade 6 students and their families. We look forward to celebrating and acknowledging the contributions our Grade 6 students have made whilst at Langwarrin Park Primary School.
