Hoop Time State Final

On Tuesday,  our Senior Girls Hooptime team competed in the State Finals.  The girls were invited by Basketball Victoria, meaning they were in the top 22 in the state.  With a few of our regulars out with injuries, we called upon some reinforcements to help the girls out.

All the girls played their hearts out.  They were able to win one of their games and go close in all other games.  We are very proud of all of the girls.  A massive thank you to Matt Milligan who coached the girls and did an amazing job.

The girls who competed were - Jade M, Addison P, Tilly R, Amelia M, Scarlett D, Lucy C, Maddison CS, Pippa N & Olivia K.

Library News

We have now commenced stocktake in the library.  All books are taken from the shelves, we check under and behind the shelves before the books are individually scanned into the computer and re-shelved.

As at Wednesday (yesterday) there are still 100 books out in students’ names, with a value of approximately $1300.00.  This is a concern as some of these books are out to students who will not be returning next year.  It is important that these books are returned now.  Notices were printed out today for all these students’ parents or guardians; next week emails will be sent.  Please ask students to have a good look at home and at school for these books.  It is surprising the number of books that remain in school bags until the last minute.  A book is not considered returned until it comes back to the library.  The library door is unlocked from 8.30am at the moment and students can just drop the books in when they arrive at school.

Remember – these books will still be in your child’s name next year if they are not returned.  They do not magically disappear over the holidays.

If you find a book at home that has a school stamp or library barcode on it, please return it as some teachers borrow books in their names and these are mistakenly taken home by students.  There are other times when the students simply forget to check the book out before they leave the library.  These books show up as ‘missing’ after stocktake and there is no way of tracing them.

Billy Cart Grand Prix and Soap Box Derby

It's not long now until the CHPS annual Billy Cart Grand Prix and Soap Box Derby!

Prep, Junior, and Middle students are encouraged to get their hands on a cardboard box (or two) for the Soap Box Derby, and with the help of some adults, create a vehicle they can run around an obstacle course in, Flintstones style! Senior students can get creative making their Billy Cart, making sure there is room for one student to sit in the cart, and handles for their partner to push them around the course.  Entrant numbers will be collected shortly, so it’s time to get the vehicles ready!  If using two boxes, please ensure they are directly attached to each other.  Helmets must be worn during the Billy Cart Grand Prix.  For ome inspiration from past years, see below.

Coffee Van Tomorrow

Rise & Grind on Wheels will be back at CHPS TOMORROW!  Come along to the Prep playground from 8am to enjoy your first coffee of the day!

Sick Bay

Please be aware we have had 2 cases of Chicken Pox reported to the school in both Middle and Senior areas.  So please keep an eye out for symptoms that may present in your child and seek medical advice.

Please keep an eye out for medical information forms coming home this week.  Could you please return them to the office before December 20th or complete them over the summer break and return during the first week back in 2024.

Families who require OSHC care for the Curriculum Days at the beginning of the 2024 school year (January 29 & 30) can book in by completing the OSHC forms here or feel free to call OSHC on 9724 4514 for further information.

Our Chickens NEED You!

We will be looking for families that are interested in coming to school to look after our chickens and pick ripe produce from the vegetable gardens over summer.  The commitment would involve 2 or 3 visits over a 5 day period to feed and water the girls and let them out for a scratch. Volunteers get to keep the eggs and vegetables you collect.

Contact Mr Crook at crook.steve@croydonhills.vic.edu.au with days you would be available and he will get back to you with a roster.

Food For Families

Please ensure you drop off your items this week as collection will start taking place from next week. Collection boxes are in our main foyer, where you can drop donations.  We thank you for supporting this wonderful cause 😊
