O.S.H.C. @ I.P.S!

Welcome to Ivanhoe Primary Outside School Hours Care.

Wominjeka to OSHC at Ivanhoe Primary School!

We would like to begin by acknowledging the

Wurrunjeri People of the Woi Wurrung people,

we pay our respect to the

past, present and future first peoples of our land.

The custodians of the Birrarung Marr (Yarra River) and the land which we know, learn and play on, as Outside School Hours Care.

The Children's' Program:

We have started putting up our trees and Festive decorations for the holiday season coming. It's looking all sparkly at OSHC! The activities that children have been choosing and asking to do are as the following.

Before Care: Hama beads, wool winding, tessellation blocks and spinning lazy the Lazy Susan's to create science experiments. Children have been making things from boxes, string, glue, origami and reading. When we go outdoor to play games, some students have been making movie trailers, other children just like to hang out and talk or play adventure games with their friends.

Aftercare:

The end of last week we made green play dough, this week we made another batch of red play dough. It's so nice to watch the children unwind after a big day of school, talking and rolling play-dough.

Staff and children have been going to play at the big climbing frame play ground.             Outside the students have also been playing running games like, Fruit Salad and Sardines. Other students have been enjoying making mud pies, or doing some chalk colouring in on the concrete lizard. Many students like to play soccer and basketball. (around the world)  Other sports that students have been enjoying are badminton, tennis and gymnastics.

Our second room has been open for Lego, dress ups, jungle games with the jungle themed soft toys and hairdressing hair dos. Our first room has had lots of Chess matches, some students have been learning to wind wool, some prefer to make pompoms. Indoor watercolour painting is popular and some like to make maps, then take them on adventures outside as part of their game.

Re-enrolments for next year:

It is time to re-enrol your child/children for next year.

I would really like to get as many applications as early as possible so I can cater enough staff for students, i.e. children: Staff.

Staff to children ratio required is 8:1 with disability 12:1 with diverse needs a regular ratio is 15:1. Next year we will be looking into getting funding to help support diversity, giving our current staff more shifts.

So if you have any information like a letter from a Dr. about your child that you would like to be kept private but think having extra staff around to help out would be great, please let Lexi know. Or when you re-enrol, please upload a copy to Smart Central or send us a copy via email.

We have a Strategic Inclusion Plan and are in the midst of updating it.

Here is a video of what sort of support we are applying for.

Foundation/Prep start the following week after testing, on the 7th February.

Please don't panic, there is still plenty of places.

Most common enrolment problems are:

  1. C.R.N. number is incorrect for either Parent 1 or Child
  2. D.O.B. is incorrect is incorrect for either Parent or Child
  3. Some parents get their childrens' D.O.B.'s and C.R.N. numbers mixed up
  4. Don't change any details from C.C.S. as they can't process your application to receive the Subsidy

In the past I have had some parents try to enrol themselves instead of their child!

We all know that, deep down, they really want to come to OSHC!

I mean, after all, we are a Leisure Program!

Kids only though! :D
