Writing

CURRICULUM FOCUS

In Writing this week we are continuing with our focus on narrative writing. When writing a narrative we have been focusing on making our writing more interesting and using adjectives.

Adjectives are words that describe what something looks, sounds or feels like.  For example, instead of writing the ball bounced, we can add in adjectives such as the red ball bounced high into the sky.

VOCABULARY

Adjectives: A word that describes an animal, person, thing, or thought. Adjectives include words that describe what something looks like and what it feels like to touch, taste, or smell. Adjectives can be colours or words that describe temperatures and sizes.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

As a family, create a narrative together. Discuss as a family what each part of the narrative is going to be. What is the title going to be? Who will the characters be? The setting? The problem? The solution?

Come up with a list of adjectives to describe the characters and setting together.
