Student Voice in Moderation

Enhancing Learning and Assessment

We’re excited to share that student participation in our college’s moderation cycle continues to grow. Increasing numbers of students are engaging in this valuable process, which provides them with a unique opportunity to see how their feedback and learning data directly inform future teaching and assessment practices.

By inviting students to participate in moderation, we give them insight into how seriously we take their work and growth. They see firsthand how staff analyse assessment data and use this to plan the next steps in learning. Students also develop a deeper understanding of what we value in high-quality work and often share what they’ve learned with their peers, helping to build a culture of shared responsibility and academic excellence.

Moderation is integral to our school’s Learning Architecture and directly supports the Teaching Planning element of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM 2.0). It ensures consistency and rigour across all subjects, enabling our teams to reflect on and strengthen curriculum design regularly.

We’re proud of the collaborative spirit this process fosters and look forward to continued student involvement.
