Cranbourne Secondary College’s Literacy Student Leader, Aknoor Kaur, has been proud to announce at recent year level assemblies that the College is participating in the 2025 Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge.
Until September 5, students are encouraged to register the books they are reading online at https://vprc.eduweb.vic.gov.au/home.
Once they have finished reading, students need to join ‘Check In Tuesday’ in the Library at lunchtime, where they will briefly discuss the book and be asked to rate it.
There are lots of prizes up for grabs, including SWPBS credits, participation prizes, Lucky Dip prizes, bookmarks and badges. The students from Years 7, 8, 9 & 10 – 12 who read the most books at their ‘challenge level’ are in the running to win books and book vouchers. Furthermore, the EAL class in Years 7 & 8 who collectively read the most books will be awarded a celebration lunch.
We ask our families to support students by encouraging their reading, discussing the books they are reading, taking a trip to the local library to borrow books, modelling reading and sharing their love of reading with the young people in their lives.
As of Week 5, the following students are in our top 3 places for each year level – please note that books need to be verified at ‘Check in Tuesday’ or by seeing Mrs Cousens in the library on other days of the week to be counted in the total.
