Some of our library displays created so far this term:
ANZAC Day – 110th Anniversary
International Harry Potter Day – Friday 2 May
We invited students and staff to share their favourite moments in the Harry Potter series.“It is not our abilities that show what we truly are. It is our choices” – Professor Dumbledore.
IDAHOBIT Day – May 17
Our library has a great collection of books for students to read related to this important genre.
YABBA 2025 Shortlist
Congratulations to our Australian authors and illustrators nominated by young readers throughout Australia for the Young Australians Best Book Award shortlists. We have some of these titles in our collection, promoted on our YABBA display. Students can read and explore them throughout terms 2 and 3. They will then have the opportunity to vote for their favourite book and author at the end of term 3!
Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge – 3 March to 5 September.
Students can visit the library on Tuesday lunchtimes to receive their book verifications and assistance in LIBM – ‘Check-in Tuesday’!
In addition, students will receive credits and a beautiful book sticker for their efforts!

Shout Out Book of the Week
Students and staff are invited to submit a creative response on a book that deserves a big shout out!
They can choose a drawing, book review, video, or other creative response. We have an online form to assist you, and physical copies are available in the library. Their favourite book will then be promoted to the school community!
Students will receive credits for their participation, and staff, their own shout outs!

Author’s name: Kafka Asagiri
Summary of the book: It’s about two organisations, the ADA and PM. The MC (main character) is a boy with an ability.
Why do you like the book? It’s interesting and about the ability users in Japan Yokahamo. I love it.
Who do you recommend the book to? People who love action and abilities

Summary of the book: A girl is caught in a love triangle between two brothers as she deals with her first love and first heartbreak during the perfect summer.
Why do you like the book? It is romantic

Book title: The Summer I Turned Pretty (second shout out for the term!)

Summary of the book: A girl is caught in a love triangle between two brothers as she deals with her first love and first heartbreak during the perfect summer.
Why do you like the book? I think it is a good book that teaches us about the realistic portrayal of teenagers.

Shout Out! Book of the Week – Week 4
Name: Torri 7C
Book title: Wolf Girl
Author’s name: Anh Do
Summary of the book: Wolf Girl is about a teen girl getting separated from her family during a bombing attack on her home town. She is forced to live in the forest, and she finds her pack with a wolf and four dogs! She feels connected with her animals and feels like she one of them but she is so desperate to find her mum, dad and younger sister so she sets off with her pack to find them but, who knows what will get in her way...
Why do you like the book? I like this book because it hooks me in to see what happens next during the series and thinking if she will ever find her family!
Who do you recommend the book to? I recommend this book to animal hearted people (e.g. therians) because she feels connected with animals but it’s really for anyone who loves a little bit of action and friendship books!

Series & Fiction Collection
We have combined our series collection with stand-alone fiction books in preparation for library renovations and to liven up our collection.
Our term 1 Victorian High-Ability Program
At the end of last term, students were rewarded with a special morning tea and certificates. During Book Week, they will have the opportunity to attend a writing workshop with our visiting author, James Phelan.
