Literacy

This week we met two new sound friends, Jack the Jellyfish and Uncle Upton! The Preps have been busily exploring narrative writing, learning how to structure a story with a beginning, middle, and end. It’s been wonderful to see their creativity come to life on the page!

Mathematics

In Maths, we’ve continued our focus on subtraction. Using concrete materials has helped us understand how numbers can be taken away, and we’ve been practising counting forwards and backwards to support our learning. We're also using clear maths language in our work, you might hear phrases like "5 take away 2 leaves 3" at home!

Inquiry

Our Inquiry unit on communities is going strong! A highlight this week was our visit to Greenlink, where we learned about plants and community gardening. We’re so grateful to the volunteers for their time and kindness. A special thank you to Jenny, who even phoned the school to compliment our students on their behaviour, what a proud moment!

Firefighter Visit

We were thrilled to welcome back our friendly firefighters last Friday! Sarah, Michael, Tyler and Jake showed us their protective gear and let us have a go with the fire hose – it was so exciting! We’ve learned so much about fire safety and the important role firefighters play in our community. The firefighters also emailed us afterwards to thank our students for being so enthusiastic and such great listeners during their visit. A special thank you to Tyler’s family for generously providing delicious donuts for the firefighters, they were very much appreciated!

Chloe’s Farewell

This Friday we say goodbye to our lovely classmate Chloe. While we’re very sad to see her go, we’re so excited for her new adventure. Chloe, thank you for your kindness, your smile, and for being a wonderful part of our Prep family. We will miss you!

Open Night
