Epsom Football League

After an amazing season of football we crowned a new Premiership team. Congratulations Kings! In what was a final that went down to the wire, all players should be very proud of their efforts. In front of a large crowd, the Kings beat the Vipers 24-22, to win their first EFL Premiership.

A few moments in the Grand Final will last in the memory of onlookers for a long time, none more so than the final play. With seconds remaining the Vipers were heading forward for one last shot at victory. The ball was kicked long and high to a large group of players. Tyrone stood tall for the Kings and took an unbelievable mark. The final whistle blew to start the celebrations, marking a great finish to the season for the team in red. Mr Kingdon and Mr McGregor, coaches of the Kings, were overcome with emotion. "This isn't just one day of hard work, this is years in the making and we deserved the win today, said Coach K, as he wiped away tears of joy. Well done to the Vipers for making the Grand Final. Coach Mr Price congratulated the opposition and stated "the Kings played really well today, but we will be back, bigger and stronger next season."

Finishing third were the Bulls, who were gallantly beaten in their Semi-Final clash. It should give Coach Antonowicz and Coach Janssen some hope of success moving forward. The wooden spoon goes to the Pumas, who was led by Coach Davey and supported by Coach Cumming. After many changes and a very young squad, it was always going to be tough for the team in pink. Unfortunately, the Pumas have decided to part ways with Coach Davey, explaining that the choice was mutual. The search for a new coach has begun. When asked for a statement, Coach Davey explained "I would've liked to have a bit more success in my short time, however, it wasn't to be. I wish the club all the best."

Players who were influential in their teams include:

Bulls - Riley F, Flynn P, Kye

Kings - Dusty, Tyrone, Harry C

Pumas - Theo, Bentley B, Chayse

Vipers - Will, Archie T, Cody J

Other highlights in the year so far include exclusive EFL visits from AFLW star Lila Keck (Carlton) and three players from Essendon's AFLW team. EFL players were able learn some skills and gain advice from these professional sportswomen.

A huge thank you to our coaches Mr Antonowicz, Mr Janssen, Mr Kingdon, Mr McGregor, Mrs Davey, Mr Cumming and Mr Price. Your time and effort has been very greatly appreciated. A special thanks to Mr I and the Senior House Captains, ensuring the facilities are up to scratch and ready for each match. Thanks also to Mrs Ladd and the School Council for supporting the EFL.
