Last Friday, our Year 7 and 8 students participated in the Global Leadership Summit Next Gen, a one-day conference focused on what it means to be a positive influence. With the theme “Transformers Transform” as their call to attention, students explored how leadership begins with character and everyday choices. It was a high-energy day full of laughter, reflection, and practical tools to lead well in their school and community.
We are incredibly proud that our own leadership team—Paige, Levi, Tahnee, Lucy, Ave, Scarlett, Flynn, Nathan, Amarli, Jake, Jayden, Evie and Ruby—helped lead both the Year 5/6 and Year 7/8 conferences. They encouraged team-building activities, anticipated where students needed support, helped set the tone for the day, and led from both the front and the sides. A huge thanks to Geneva Christian College and Launceston Christian School for joining us and making the event even more meaningful.
In Secondary, the Year Coordinator is usually your go-to person for anything related to student wellbeing. They are the ones checking in regularly, supporting students through the ups and downs, and keeping communication flowing with families. Alongside them, we are lucky to have two wonderful staff who bring specialist skills to help support students even further.
Kristen Cox (coxk@dcs.tas.edu.au) is our Learning Support teacher. She steps in when students need extra help with their learning—whether that is through Individual Learning Plans, classroom adjustments, or working with outside professionals. Kristen is thoughtful, practical, and passionate about helping students find the tools and confidence they need to do their best.
Alana De Bruyn (alana.debruyn@dcs.tas.edu.au) is our Wellbeing Associate—who also happens to be a trained Chaplain. Alana meets one-on-one with students, helping them manage emotions, learn strategies that work in real life, and navigate whatever challenges they are facing. She also runs wellbeing sessions, chats with parents, and is a calm, caring presence across our Secondary space.
Together, Kristen and Alana are part of the wider team working to make sure every student feels supported, known, and equipped for both school and life beyond it.
We have two exciting new additions to our uniform stock for Secondary students!
Navy Puffer Jacket – $105.00
Navy Puffer Vest – $95.00
Our new navy puffer jacket and puffer vest are both cosy and warm, perfect for this chilly Tasmanian weather that we are now having! These are a great option to keep students warm during outdoor activities.
We have stock available in sizes 14 – 2XL (with size 12 on backorder).
Both the puffer jacket and vest are available from our Uniform Shop, which is open Tuesday morning 8:30-9:00am and Thursday afternoon 2:30pm-3:00pm and from the front office outside of these hours.
We are delighted to inform you that Devonport Christian School will be participating in the world-renowned ICAS Assessments again this year.
