Year 4/5/6

In Science, we’ve been exploring the fascinating world of Matter, with a special focus on gases and the effects of heat. To bring our learning to life, we made bread from scratch! This hands-on experience helped students observe how heat changes the properties of materials and how gases like carbon dioxide play a key role in making bread rise. It was a delicious way to understand the science behind everyday materials!
This activity supported outcomes ST3-6MW-S, ST3-7MW-T, and ST3-1WS-S as students planned, observed, and discussed the changes they saw during the bread-making process.
In Mathematics, we’ve been developing our understanding of chance and position. Students have been using grid maps and coordinate planes to locate and describe positions, follow routes, and explore how visual representations help us make sense of the world around us.
These activities align with outcomes MA2-GM-01 and MA3-GM-01.
We also celebrated our enthusiastic readers with a Book Club Party! Students who completed their home reading goals enjoyed a cozy treat of hot chocolates, Tim Tams, and marshmallows, using our special class cups and saucers. It was a lovely way to acknowledge their dedication and foster a love of reading, a fabulous social gathering with plenty of laughter!
Can you help?4/5/6 are collecting clean, empty containers (like yoghurt tubs, juice boxes, or takeaway containers) for us to use in our measuring activities. We would appreciate it if you could collect and send them with your child. Thanks for your support!
