Mr Irwin's Message

Hello Families and welcome to this week’s newsletter!

I hope you managed to enjoy some fun over the wet long weekend. I took the opportunity to visit Casterton and the Kelpie muster, including seeing some of the dogs our leadership students worked with earlier in the year at Kelpie Camp get auctioned. Would you believe one of the pups we met earlier in the year sold for a staggering $17,500. Kelpie Camp is something our School Captains attend every year and is a wonderful experience.

Semester Reports

Teachers are currently in the thrust of conducting assessments and writing comments for Semester Reports. Semester Reports give families a formal update of progress by students against the Victorian Curriculum achievement standards.

Reports are distributed digitally via Sentral in the last week of Term 2. It’s a timely reminder to check your access to Sentral is up to date so when reports arrive you will be able to view them.

Following Semester Reports, families are always welcome to request a catch-up with teachers to discuss reports. To coincide with reports we also provide Student Led Conferences early in Term 3, which provides a wonderful opportunity for students to share samples of their learning from Semester 1.

In next week’s newsletter I will take families through what a detailed student report looks like.

Early Learning Centre:

Civil Works have begun on site for the new Early Learning Centre. Prior to the long weekend work has graduated to the concrete slab being poured. Hopefully the rain doesn’t hold up construction too much as all indications from site meetings are that progress is well on track.

A reminder to families wishing to apply to enrol for spots at the new centre to do so via Early Learning Victoria Teesdale (interim name) | earlylearning.vic.gov.au

Happy Campers!

Next week, our Senior School students are off to Urban Camp in Melbourne. They’ll get to experience many of the great city sights including Scienceworks, the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Old Melbourne Gaol. A few years ago, School Council decided to include an Urban Camp experience for students as part of our camping program.

Camps provide an opportunity for us to provide out of comfort zone experiences for students and Council felt that a city experience for our students was just that! We hope that all students attending have a wonderful time and a huge thanks in advance to our staff attending and giving up time away from their families to ensure this experience can occur.
