Teaching and Learning
da Vinci Decathlon
Students travelled to the Illawarra Grammar School recently to compete in the da Vinci Decathlon, an academic competition to challenge and stimulate the minds of students.
Students compete in teams of eight across 10 disciplines: engineering, mathematics and chess, code breaking, art and poetry, science, English, ideation, creative producers, cartography and legacy.
All students demonstrated the MSC spirit of enthusiastic teamwork, inspirational ideas and great humility in the face of tough competition, achieving amazing results. Well done to each team and thanks to Mrs Hampton and Mr Bartlett.

MUNA Success
Chevalier was represented by two teams at the Model of United Nations Assembly (MUNA) competition last weekend.
MUNA simulates the workings of the UN Assembly by having teams of students representing different UN countries in debates on matters of world political and social concern.
The College teams represented Chevalier and their respective countries with exceptional poise and depth, making for an enlightening day.
Year 10 - Shruthi P, Sebastian B and Ava L represented the UAE
Year 11 - Lucinda C, Eden R and Macey D represented Japan
Commendably our Year 11 team took out first place and will now represent the Southern Highlands at the national competition in Canberra in August.
Congratulations to the teams and Mrs Painter. Good luck in Canberra!
Science and Engineering Challenge
Chevalier College are Science and Engineering champions again!
For the third year in a row, Chev has won the Southern Highlands round of the Science and Engineering Challenge. The activities included building a wind turbine, constructing an earthquake-proof toward, building a fish trap, constructing an electricity grid and many more. With excellent scores and wins in Flight, and the all-important Bridge, we took first place against the 7 local high schools.
Hopefully our score is high enough to secure a place in the NSW State Finals later in the year.
Well done Mr Byrne and Team!
ANU Maths
Our Extension 2 Mathematics students headed to Canberra for this week's ANU Math Day.
They worked very hard in head-to-head maths competitions, including a group contest, Swiss challenge, and Math relay! It was a whole day of problem-solving against other schools.
Excitingly, Chev came out on top of the other regional schools on the day, taking home the regional shield. What a massive effort.
Congratulations to Mr Williams and the team.
