Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart Community,

Prayer

God of light and mercy,

we light this candle as a sign of our willingness to be your light in the world. We remember before you our own communities; the places where we live and work; the people whose lives are connected to ours.

We bring before you all the people whose stories we have witnessed and all those whose stories have shaped our lives. In Jesus, you show us how to confront violence and how to transform it into peace and justice.

Fill us with your peace, that we may be peacemakers. Fill us with your truth, that we may speak truth to power. Fill us with your courage that we may bring hope to those who live in fear. Fill us with joy, that we may be your beacons in the world.

We ask it in the name of Jesus, our Saviour and friend.

Amen.

Baptism of Samantha and Suzanna

Next Friday on the Feast of the Sacred Heart, our two students, sisters Samantha and Suzanna will be Baptised. This will be a very special occasion and parents are invited if they would like to attend this celebration. The Baptism will commence at 11.45am and all our students will be in attendance.

National Sorry Day

In recognition of National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week, our Sacred Heart Parish last Sunday acknowledged the occasion during Mass and after with the planting of a Native Hibiscus Shrub at the front of our Church. As Father Aloysius read the Gospel for the day he was accompanied by one of our parishioners holding a message stick.

We have some other roles which our students will carry out during the celebration.

Interschool Sport News

Soccer

It was really fun. It was a tough match against EPIC. We all played very well - Connor

Every one was playing happily and we had a great match ~ Maxie.

Netball Mixed

In Netball the mixed team all tried our best. We never gave up and in every game we pretend it's our last game of the season. I will encourage other students even when I'm not on the netball field. I still encourage other students and I will go and encourage the soccer team before they leave. I wish I could see the other students from the other schools. Last match we where versing EPIC it was 16 to 0 we won but I didn't feel like it was a win. I also had a lot of fun with my mates. -Fortunato (:

Netball Girls

During last weeks game, we had lots of fun and we won by 7 - 1, but it was tough. Everyone was encouraging each other, EPIC played really well and I hope they would win some games in the future. ~ Harper

Last weeks netball was fun! We won by 7-1,

I believe that we won because we were encouraging each other more than ever! And we had lots of teamwork put into it. EPIC were fun to face, and over all I think that both the mixed, netball and girls team played their best and had a pleasant fun time! ~ Katelin

After School Chess Program

As detailed in previous newsletters, the after school chess program which we ran last year will happen again this year. Further details will follow as we get closer to the program commencing in Term Three. I have requested some changes to the way the sessions are run, with each session commencing with a teaching component and our students then being matched with fellow students with similar chess ability.
