Year 1/2 Learning Community News

Literacy

In Reading, we have been learning about predictions and connections like text to text, text to self and text to world. Text to self connections are for making connections to something you have experienced in your life. Text to text is about a book that has a similar story.

In our Writer's Notebook, we have been collecting leaves to write adjectives of. We are also learning about writing compound sentences and using commas in our writing. We have also been developing a character and writing all the things they like and dislike.

Maths

Hi, my name is Lenny, in math we have been learning about measurement and one of the activities was to measure our shoes with a ruler, then we ordered them from smallest to largest. It was very fun!

Inquiry

This term, our Grade 1/2 students are exploring the theme of peace and conflict, focusing on how various professions help maintain community peace. They've looked at roles such as police officers and firefighters, and recently, they were fortunate to have a visit from Dian Turner, a lawyer, who shared how her profession contributes to resolving conflicts and maintaining peace. 

Peer Support

Hi, my name is Ollie in peer support we play fun games and get to know new people. Our leaders from 5/6 help us do diffferent things. I really like it.
