Excursion - Shrine of Remembrance

Year 2

Shrine of Remembrance

The Year 2 students visited the Shrine of Remembrance, one of Melbourne’s most beautiful and iconic places that reflect on the impacts of war. We discovered real-life stories of courageous Australians in wartime such as Simpson and his donkey and viewed breathtaking vistas of the memorial gardens and The Wall of Medals. As well as visiting the Eternal Flame and Ray of Light. We were gifted with postcards and poppies and enjoyed lunch in the gardens. We were able to link the information we learned at the Shrine with our history topic of 'Past in the Present' and create an information report with our facts.
