Purdie Varsity Glee Club Choir

Monday 20 May 2024

What a wonderful night we all had at the recent Purdue Varsity Glee Club concert! Recognised as the best Glee Choir in the USA, Purdue wowed the audience with their joyful and exuberant show.  It was wonderful to hear their stunningly beautiful singing and to observe the respect and discipline that so clearly underpins the workings of their choir.

The evening also included performances by three of our choirs – Koristers, VOX and Chamber Choir.  Koristers sang Don’t Be Afraid by Australian composer Andrew Howes, and were ably accompanied by The Thompson String Quartet and Mrs Lenton on piano, with Anabelle van Wyk featuring on soprano saxophone. VOX sang a lovely version of May It Be by Irish songwriter Enya and Chamber Choir completed the KWS set with a beautiful performance of Us, from Across the Dark, by Australian composer Ben Van Tienan.  Pre - concert entertainment was provided by our Con Brio String Quartet, made up of Isabel Wong and Bonnie McPhee (violin), Eli Cunningham (viola) and Lotte McLeod (‘cello).  Their polished performances of all featured Kinross Wolaroi ensembles were a credit to the school.  Thank you to Mrs Sinclair, Mrs Lenton, Ms Anthony, Mr Moxey, Ms Hayes and Mrs Martin for the work they put into preparing the event.

Acacia String Quartet Workshop

The wonderful Acacia String Quartet will be visiting Kinross Wolaroi School on Thursday, May 30 to run a workshop with Chamber Strings. Acacia String Quartet will also play for our students in a short lunchtime concert.  This visit provides our students with an excellent opportunity to hear and work with professional players and we are all looking forward to working with them.  Further information has been provided to families.
