What a busy fortnight in the liturgical year.

We have celebrated The Holy Trinity, Mary Help of Christians and the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Each of these feast days and solemnities remind us of the core traditions in the Catholic Faith.

The Holy Trinity, we pray to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, and we reflect on this each time we make the sign of the cross, In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The body and blood of Christ, the gift Jesus left us, which allows us to share in this Holy meal. This year we pray especially for Sophia, Frankie, Liana and Deng as they prepare themselves to receive their first Holy Communion later this month.

Mary Help of Christians, as the patron saint of Australia, we rejoice and share our challenges with our most Holy mother. I always like to reflect on the beautiful hymn entitled

Help of Christians, Guard our Nation (Tune: Ode to Joy – Beethoven)

Help of Christians, guard our nation,

That it be a place of peace,

Where the love of Christ unites us

And all racial tensions cease.

Help of Christians, lead us forward,

With this dream in ev’ry heart:

To create a place of welcome

Where injustice has no part.

Help of Christians, chosen patron,

Of this fair Australian land,

You have shown a way to follow,

True to all that God has planned.

May our lives like yours be faithful,

May our loving be as true,

Till we see our God for ever,

Who has done great things for you.

Sacred Heart Feast Day

We will be celebrating this important feast day on Friday 7th June. As we are an OLSH school, it is wonderful to be able to continue the tradition of welcoming nearly 100 OLSH College students to our school. Here the students will share in Mass and Liturgy with our students and complete some beautiful activities as we learn about how we to can share the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is especially poignant this year as we celebrate the 200th year since the birth of the founder of Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, and the daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and 150 years since the foundation of the daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart.

Yours in Love, Peace and Learning,

Paula Burns
