Principal Report

Dear Parents and Friends

Congratulations to Michael & Marja, who are expecting a baby in September. Number 4, exciting times!

As mentioned at assembly last week, what a great week we had in Canberra. As usual, it is a pleasure to go away with these students. Despite some very tired students and adults, following big days and a lot of activities, there was a lot of joy and learning. The importance of such trips cannot be underestimated, not just in terms of time with friends, or visiting places like Parliament House, but also the incidental life skills that are experienced. A big shout out to Penny Showers, Mark Butters and Michael Kearton for their time away from family whilst on camp.

Tomorrow, two of our Year Six students, Isis and Lily, will represent St. Joseph’s at the upgrade of the Railway Precinct. They will plant a tree, along with students from other local schools.

A reminder that Pizza competition entries are due this Friday. Good luck!

Please keep in your prayers the following students as they prepare for the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. These sacraments will be celebrated on Sunday, 29th June at 9:00 am mass. We invite all to come along in support of these students' sacramental journey.

Absences Protocols

As the weather begins to change, I thought it was timely to give some general reminders around absences. As we know, daily school attendance is important for all children and young people to succeed in education and to ensure they don’t fall behind both socially and developmentally.

These protocols follow Catholic Education Sandhurst policies.

  • Notification from a parent or guardian is required if your child is away from school.
  • Our preference for notification is via PAM, other options include an email to the office on office@sjbeechworth.catholic.du.au or a phone call to the administration staff.
  • Reasons for absence must be recorded by the school. These may include sickness, appointments or holidays.
  • Where notification is not received, an SMS will be sent to parents or guardians. If this is not responded to, a phone call will be made and/ or a second parent/ guardian contacted. Following this, emergency contacts will be contacted. If contact is still not made a wellbeing check by authorities will be organised.
  • Students who arrive late or leave early need to be signed in and out at the office.
  • Supervision for students on site begins at 8:30 am.
  • Students who catch the bus need to fill in the bus form at the office each morning.

Thanks for your continued support and communication with these protocols.
