LEARNING AND TEACHING

SoGS House Athletics Carnival 2025!

What an incredible day we had last Thursday at our recent School of the Good Shepherd House Athletics Carnival! The energy, enthusiasm, and team spirit shown by all students made for a truly memorable event.

Firstly, a huge congratulations and thank you to our wonderful staff who guided and supported students through their events with patience and encouragement. Your dedication helped ensure that the day ran smoothly and that every student had a positive experience. A special thank you also to our amazing parent volunteers — your time, enthusiasm, and support were invaluable and greatly appreciated by all.

We would also like to acknowledge and celebrate our House Captains and school leaders, whose leadership and passion helped create a magical atmosphere throughout the day. Your encouragement, organisation, and pride in your houses set a fantastic example for all students.

The final placings for the day were as follows:

4th Place: Teresa House – 517 points!

3rd Place: Mackillop House – 558 points!

2nd Place: Patrick House – 584 points!

1st Place: Francis House – 743 points!

To all students who participated: congratulations on your efforts! For those who may not have won a ribbon, please remember that you still made an important contribution by earning points for your house. Your participation, perseverance, and resilience are achievements to be proud of. Sometimes the greatest victories come from simply giving your best and cheering on your teammates.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make our House Athletics Day a wonderful success.

We look forward to many more opportunities to celebrate our incredible school community!

Yours Sincerely

Frank Piccione (Mr P)

Introducing Recycle Mate

The Hume City Council has just started a new initiative called Recycle Mate, an online app/web browser where you can search for information about which bin an item goes in.

If you’ve ever felt confused about how to use your household bins, or wondered where to take a tricky item for recycling or disposal, we have good news!

We’ve partnered with Recycle Mate to make it easier for you to get answers to all of your waste sorting questions.Recycle Mate lets you search for over 7,500 items to find out how to dispose of them responsibly. You can also explore the map to discover the many options for waste disposal and recycling available in Hume.

There’s also an app for your phone where you can search by photo – find it in your app store. Happy recycling!
