Grade 6

It’s been a great start to Term 2!

Our Grade 6 students have settled back in well and are already diving into some exciting learning.

In Maths, we’re working on fractions. Students have been investigating equivalent fractions, using multiple strategies to help solve them. The 6’s can use things like the Lowest Common Multiple, Highest Common Factor and Cross Multiplication.

In Literacy, we’ve started reading Us Mob Walawurru, which has led to some thoughtful discussions. We have made great connections due to spending the first week back researching background knowledge. The novel also includes content we explored last term in Integrated. Using the themes from the book, we have started doing more research about what life was like in the 1960’s in Australia. With this information students are delving deeply into the 1967 referendum in Australia to write a factual recount.

During Integrated Studies, we’re exploring the world—learning about different countries and cultures. We have started learning the continents, oceans, and have extended our knowledge of Asia.

The Colour Run was a huge success, filled with energy, laughter, and lots of colour!

We’re looking forward to a fantastic term ahead!

New Grade 6 Uniforms – Designed by Students, Inspired by Culture

We're excited to reveal our brand-new Grade 6 uniforms! These special shirts were proudly designed by a group of our talented students, in collaboration with First Nations artist Sam Richards. The design reflects themes of leadership, community, and connection to Country—capturing the spirit of our graduating class in a unique and meaningful way.

A big thank you to the student design team for their creativity and thoughtful ideas throughout the process. The result is a beautiful uniform that our 2025 Grade 6 students will wear with pride.

Sam will be returning to Grayling later this term for a mural project - super exciting, more details to come soon!

Thank you Ivy, Summah, and Zane for modelling the new shirts so confidently—great work!
