Sustainability

– Miss Sarah, Sustainability Leader

We are almost at achieving our milestone of being a ResourceSmart 3-Star School! Our journey with the ResourceSmart Schools Water Module has shown us that small, mindful actions add up to big environmental impacts. By continuing to embed sustainable practices in our school culture, we hope to inspire lifelong water-conscious habits in our students and school community.

Next Steps: Continuing the Journey

While we have made great progress, there is always more we can do! Our next steps include:

  • Expanding Irrigation Systems – Earlier this year, we also applied for a Junior Landcare Grant to fund an irrigation system for our gardens. We eagerly await the outcome of our application and remain hopeful for the opportunity to enhance our water-saving initiatives further. If successful, the Junior Landcare Grant will allow us to install an automated irrigation system, ensuring our gardens are watered efficiently while minimizing waste.
  • Enhancing Student Leadership – We aim to empower students even further by involving them in real-time water monitoring through SWEP and creating interactive learning experiences on water sustainability.
  • Strengthening Community Partnerships – Collaborating with local environmental groups and Melbourne Water will provide ongoing opportunities for students and staff to learn from experts and take part in hands-on sustainability projects.
  •  Reviewing & Expanding Our Water Action Plan – Based on our audit findings, we will assess new opportunities to further reduce water consumption and ensure that conservation practices become second nature to all students and staff.
