Old Scholars

Launch of the Pitjantjara Children's Bible in Ernabella
Over the Easter weekend, some Old Scholars, Dave Barnett, from the Pitjantjatjara Bible Translation Project and I, travelled to Ernabella on the APY Lands for the launch of Godaku Tjukurpa, the new Pitjantjatjara Children's Bible.
After the launch, we visited a number of communities and went to Uluru to distribute copies of the Children's Bible and other Scripture resources published in the Pitjantjatjara language.
It was an honour and privilege to be asked to join in the launch by the Pitjantjatjara translators and artists who made the Bible. I was invited to share, and the Old Scholars sang ‘The Blessing’.
Old Scholars Neriah Henning (2022), Evie Dow (2023), Grace Earl (2024), Scarlett Griffiths (2021) and Annalise Wilden (2024) singing 'The Blessing' at the Bible Launch with Jared Hendricks from The Bible Society.
Godaku Tjukurpa was originally started by Nami Kulyuru, who had been a teacher, artist and Bible translator in Ernabella and had a long association with Emmaus. After she passed away, Emmaus fundraised money to assist in the completion of the Bible. The launch was very much in honour of Nami whose inspiration was Matthew 19:14 ‘let the little children come to me’.
We are planning to do this again next year, so if you know any Old Scholars who might be interested please get them to email nblenkinsop@emmauscc.sa.edu.au.
