Leadership at BBPS

Levi and Nuno attend the Bayside School ANZAC day ceremony at The Hampton RSL

Enrichment@BBPS

Grade 1/2 will be celebrating Enrichment Day in week 4 as part of our Education Week program (Friday, 16th May).

Prep will have the opportunity to participate later in the academic year. Our semester one developmental play program (Investigations) in Prep supports opportunities for critical and creative thinking, not to mention social skill development. Crucial for this age group.

Grade 3/4 Program:

BBPS Newsroom - Journalism - We will be exploring the various writing styles used in print media. Students will learn how to write news, features and biographies, conduct interviews and differentiate fact from opinion. Ultimately participants will have the opportunity to contribute to the student newspaper, to be shared in outlets in our local community.

Architect’s Puzzle - One for budding architects with a love of mathematics! This 3/4 enrichment program with a mathematical focus will be exploring spatial reasoning and the connections between 2D shape and 3D objects to develop a house and plans leading to a housing estate project.

Chef's Delight - This term the students in this program will be putting their culinary skills to the test. Over 6 weeks, students will be researching and creating cuisines from three different countries. Students will create shopping lists with the necessary ingredients, calculate costs, create a recipe book and of course cook their meal!

A couple of our programs are offered Grade 3-6:

Garden Makers - We will be diving into the living world of the Kitchen Garden - planting seedlings, building compost, painting garden signs, exploring soil health, learning about beneficial bugs, and bringing our insect hotel to life. It’s all about curiosity, connection, and getting our hands in the dirt; creating the link between sustainable theory and practice.

SRC Leaders in Action - Our 2025 Student Representative Council explore what makes a good leader and discover their own unique leadership strengths. Students will create and present a project at assembly that brings our school motto, Self-Responsibility Comes Alive in 2025, to life through stories, actions, or creative performances. They will also work alongside The Resilience Project to review student wellbeing data and identify a key area of need at BBPS to focus on throughout the year. Our nominated Grade 2 SRC students will also be participating in these sessions each week.

Grade 5/6 Program:

The “Math Behind the Rubik’s Cube” unit invites students to explore mathematical thinking through hands-on problem-solving, logic, and pattern recognition. Students will deepen their understanding of core mathematical concepts in an engaging and meaningful context. They will investigate concepts such as symmetry, angles, rotations, and 3D shapes, while also working with number patterns, multiplication, and factorials to understand the vast number of possible cube combinations as well as collecting data along the way.

I am an inventor: Our student engineers will create machines and inventions that make life easier for people. This “I am an inventor” unit explores simple inventions using pulleys, levers, ramps, wedges and wheel & axel. Students will experiment with creating simple machines while investigating the reason and uses for them, before designing and creating their own machine in small groups.

Lights, Camera, Action: Students will be building their understanding of Stop Motion, creating short film animations using a range of techniques and linked to create storyboard themes. This enrichment unit is for the budding director, producer, storyteller, tech whizz!

Thank you to our amazing teachers, who have enthusiastically created such a dynamic program for our students. We are excited! This initiative is unique to BBPS, and acknowledges the opportunities small class sizes bring to catering for individual interests, igniting curiosity and passion, linking curriculum knowledge with authentic learning opportunities.

Parents of Grades 3-6 are invited to participate in a session alongside your child as part of our Education Week celebration. Come along in two weeks, on Wednesday 14th May, 2:30-3:30pm.

Alternatively, as part of our Education Week program:
