A message from the Principal

Year 5/6 Camp – Last Week

Our Year 5/6 students had a fantastic time at Log Cabins, Creswick, last Monday and Tuesday. The students took on a variety of exciting activities, including Scavenger Hunts, Giant Swing, Flying Foxes, Initiatives Course, Orienteering, and High Ropes. They demonstrated excellent teamwork, bravery, and great behaviour throughout the camp. The camp was made even better with amazing food, and the staff at Log Cabins were very welcoming. A good time was had by all, and we look forward to hearing more stories from the students!

Sandhurst Switches Off

On Wednesday, 7th May, we participated in Sandhurst Switches Off, a day dedicated to turning off lights and other common uses of electricity at school. The event went really well, with great participation from everyone. By switching off, we showed our commitment to caring for the environment and helping fight climate change.

While this event is only for one day, it serves as an important reminder to be mindful of our energy use every day. Thank you to all who took part in this important initiative!

Winter Uniform

As the weather begins to cool down, it’s great to see students switching to their winter uniforms. While we’ve had some lovely weather, we’re starting to feel the chill in the air. Please note that hats are no longer compulsory now that April has passed and we’ve moved out of the SunSmart months, but students are still welcome to wear them if they choose. Please see the General section of this newsletter for more information on winter uniform.

Mother’s Day

A Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mothers in our community! On Friday, we celebrated with our annual Mother’s Day Breakfast. Staff cooked up Bacon & Egg Rolls, and a coffee van from our very own Dejabrew was onsite. The breakfast was well attended, and it was a lovely way to honour and celebrate the special women in our lives. A big thank you to Dejabrew for providing delicious coffee for the event.

Walk to School

This Friday, 16th May, we’ll be having a Walk to School event starting from the RSL car park in North Bendigo at 8:30 am. Last term, we had a very successful Ride to School event from the same location, and we’re looking forward to seeing many students and families walking together this time. Everyone is warmly invited to join in – we’d love to see you there!

Good Luck to Cross Country Participants

This Friday, our Years 3-6 students who are representing St. Peter’s at the Divisional Bendigo Cross Country will compete at the Bendigo Racetrack. A big thank you to Jake Wilkinson, who will be transporting the students to the event. We wish all the students the best of luck – go St. Peter’s!

School Athletics

Our School Athletics will take place on Friday, 23rd May. Events for our older students will begin at 12:00 pm, and the younger students will join in from approximately 2:00 pm. More information about the day will be sent out soon.

Prayer for the New Pope

Loving God,

We welcome Pope Leo XIV with open hearts, praying that you guide him in his new role as the leader of the Catholic Church.

Grant him wisdom, strength, and compassion as he leads us in faith, peace, and love.

May his leadership inspire us to grow closer to You and serve others with humility and kindness.

Bless Pope Leo XIV and all those who follow his guidance.

Amen.

God Bless,
