This week in our learning...

Religious Education

We explored what Jesus meant when he said, “Go and do the same,” and thought about how we can follow his example in our own lives. We discussed real ways to show kindness and care for others in our words and actions. We reflected on how sharing love helps us grow as people of hope, making a difference in our world and becoming more like Jesus each day.

Maths

We were learning to solve addition and subtraction problems by using a variety of strategies to help us work efficiently and accurately. These included using place value to break numbers into parts, counting on or back, using number lines, and applying inverse operations to check our answers. We also explored which strategies worked best for different types of problems and explained our thinking to others

English

This week in English we continued reading and responding to questions about  Yirra and Her Deadly Dog Demon. In reading we included using the correct homophones in sentences, adjectives to improve our sentences and substituted more interesting verbs. We also worked on our second paragraph on our factual recount, “The History of the Aboriginal Flag”

Integrated Studies

We have come to understand a little more about why the First Fleet came to Australia and what life is like during the journey. Students needed to explain the reasons for the voyage in their own words and try to describe some of the experiences of those on board.

AUSLAN

When asking an open-ended question, we put our eyebrows down. For instance “What subjects do you have at school today?” This lets the person know that they are confused and need more information.

Social/Emotional Learning & RRRR

We were learning to understand that everyone faces problems and that this is a normal part of life. We practiced identifying and naming different problems and learned that problems can be solved and explored different ways to find solutions. Through this, we strengthen our confidence and resilience when dealing with challenges.
