Physical Education F-2 and 5-6

Melbourne City FC Skills Take Over PE!

Our Physical Education classes have been buzzing with excitement over the past four weeks thanks to a fantastic initiative with Melbourne City Football Club! We were thrilled to welcome one of their talented coaches to our school, who led engaging and skill-focused soccer sessions with our students.

Across F-2 and 5-6, students have had the incredible opportunity to learn directly from a professional coach, developing key soccer techniques in a fun and supportive environment. The sessions have covered a range of essential skills, from mastering the art of dribbling and executing accurate passes and our senior levels beginning to understand the basics of defending and creating attacking opportunities in modified soccer games and activities.

It's been wonderful to witness the students' enthusiasm and progress as they've absorbed new skills and put them into practice. This collaboration with Melbourne City FC has undoubtedly provided a memorable and valuable learning experience, fostering a love for the game and enhancing our students' physical literacy. A big thank you to Melbourne City FC and their coach for sharing their expertise with our school community!

Please see below some photo's of students participating in the program as well as some more information for any interested families who would like to sign up for the soccer program at Melbourne City.

Physical Education Year 3&4

Our Year 3 and 4 students have kicked off the term with a fantastic introduction to one of Australia's favourite sports: Australian Rules Football!

Through engaging activities and modified games, our students have been learning the core skills that make Aussie Rules so unique and exciting. They've been practicing their kicking techniques, mastering the art of marking, developing their handball skills, and understanding the importance of spatial awareness on the field.

The energy and enthusiasm on display have been fantastic, setting a positive and active tone for the term ahead.

District Cross Country

Our St Thomas students represented our school with incredible determination and spirit at the Cranbourne North District Cross Country event last Friday, competing against seven other schools. Their combined efforts led to a fantastic 4th place overall in the district!

A significant achievement saw six of our talented students finish in the top 10 of their respective races, earning them a place at the next Division event. Congratulations to Ryan White, Hannah Vincent, Allegra Barrett, Salome Abeysiriwardena, Kiera Hampton, and Elaine Bino for their outstanding performances!

All 45 participating students should be incredibly proud of their efforts and the way they represented St Thomas. Your commitment and enthusiasm were truly inspiring!

Kind Regards,

Anthony O'Rourke & Sarah Rietwyk
