Dear Families,
This semester, we are introducing some improvements to the school report format to make them more accessible and easier to understand for all families. We recognise that school reports can sometimes be difficult to interpret, and these changes aim to provide clearer insights into your child’s learning and progress.
Reports will now include an overview of each subject area, along with a list of key skills your child has been working on. Each skill will be assessed using a scale from Not Assessed to Well Above, offering a more straightforward snapshot of your child’s development across the curriculum.
Key Terms
Progression Point - circle with a letter (C = current judgement, P = previous judgement) inside which shows the assessed level of curriculum for a student in specific area. Please see below for an example.
Skills Grid - A tool used in school reports to provide families with a clearer picture of the specific skills and learning behaviours a student has been working on throughout the term or semester.
Please note: This semester’s reports will not include a general teacher comment. Instead, the Personal and Social Capability section will outline the typical skills expected at your child’s year level and provide an indication of how they are progressing in comparison to their peers.
Here’s what to expect in the report:
From the Classroom Teacher:
From Specialist Teachers:
If you have any questions after receiving the report, please know that Student, Parent and Teacher Interviews are scheduled for 3rd July. These meetings are a great opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their teacher(s) and ask any questions you may have.
We would also like to thank our School Advisory Committee for their valuable input and assistance in discussing the proposed changes and providing feedback to support improved communication with families.
As we move through the school term, we kindly ask families to keep children at home if they’re feeling unwell—even with mild symptoms like a cough, runny nose, or upset tummy.
This helps your child rest and recover properly, and also protects classmates, teachers, and our families from the spread of illness.
We appreciate your support in keeping our school community safe and healthy. If you're unsure whether your child is well enough to attend, please feel free to contact the school office.
Kind regards,
Peta Overbury
