From the Principal

Mr Torpey

St Justin’s Primary School acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia's First People and Traditional Custodians of the land and waterways on which our school stands.

We pay our respects to the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation, and their elders past and present, and emerging as we continue to proudly live and learn on their land.

St Justin's Primary School - Celebrating 40 years of Catholic Education

Dear Families and Friends,

Welcome back to Term 3. We hope you all had the opportunity to spend time with loved ones, and if nothing else, have a break from the school routine. This term promises to be another busy one, with many exciting events planned - Music Soiree, Confirmation, Year 3/4 Camp, Student Led Conferences, Trivia Night - just to name a few. Whilst our Annual Fair on the Hill is still some time away (Saturday 9th November (11:00am - 4:00pm) there has been an amazing amount of planning going on.

Please refer to the Fair on the Hill page for more information.

Confirmation

This term our Year 6 students will receive the sacrament of Confirmation. During Confirmation, candidates will be ‘sealed’ with the Holy Spirit. Students will explore people who demonstrate saintly qualities and hopefully gain a greater understanding of the Fruits and Gifts of the Holy Spirit. To help prepare for Confirmation, Confirmation Commitment Masses, Reflection Day and Confirmation Medal Masses will be held in August with the Sacrament of Confirmation being held on Wednesday 28th August, 6DB 5:00pm Mass and 6SL 7:00pm Mass.  Like anything we do in life, preparation is important. Sacraments are not a "tick" object in life, but rather part of our life journey - a journey shared with God and family.

Please keep our candidates in your prayers as they continue on their faith journey.

Please refer to the Education in Faith page for all date in relation to Confirmation preparation.

NAIDOC Week

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Each year the National NAIDOC Week Poster Competition encourages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists aged 13 years and over to submit their artwork which reflects that year's National NAIDOC Week Theme.

This year we were very lucky to have Aunty Zeta join us for a Welcome to Country and Welcome Ceremony, followed by a dance performance by One Fire, an Indigenous dance troupe.  A big thank you to Jamil Tye for his assistance with the organising of this wonderful event for our students.

Cough, Colds and COVID

As the wintery conditions continue, so do the reports of coughs, colds, flu and Covid. Can we please encourage parents to keep their children at home whenever they display the symptoms of being unwell. Thank you for your cooperation.

STUDENT ABSENCES

We take the opportunity to remind all families that student absences should still be reported to school via Audiri by 8:30am or phone call prior to school commencing.

The “Mark Student Absent” module in nForma is still not working correctly at this time as we are not able to have parents input absences into the current day.  This is being worked on and we will inform you when it has been tested and is operational.  In the interim - Student Absences are to be reported in the following ways:

  1. Audiri - Student Absence
  2. Leave a message via Student Absence on 9561 7644

We appreciate your support with this advice.

Second Hand Uniforms

At St Justin's we appreciate the second-hand uniform donations but we do ask that when you donate items they are current St Jutsin's school uniform in good condition.

Use of Photographs

Please remember that if at any stage you take a group photo of students at a school event, it should not be published online unless permission has been granted by individual parents/carers of the child/children in the photo.
