News from the Drama Program

In Drama, Grade 4 students are learning how to create clear scene beginnings. Their scenes are inspired by listening to a spoken story, the Stradbroke Island Aboriginal tale “Wonga & Nudu” about two adventurous children. We have enjoyed watching students create characters, setting and actions for their dramas.

Grade 5 students have been working with scripts written by past Grade 6 students called “The Island” and “The Donkey”.  Students are creating their own dramatic action ideas and also following stage directions to make their dramas exciting to watch. The scripts have some fun characters to portray including a cheeky Monkey, a Russian Grandma, an acrobatic Crab and a dishonest Pet Shop owner.

In Grade 6 we are creating our scenes for the Grade 6 show. Set at an Australian beach, students are developing their characters and scripts in groups. They will rehearse with props in preparation for the show, working with everyday items and a large puppet Emu. Our Grade 6 students have excellent comedic skills to showcase in their dramas – we can’t wait to put it all together later this term!
