Grade 2 Report

Term 3 has barely begun and already we have plenty going on. Everyone is getting back into the swing of school, though there are winter lurgies about effecting many of us. We appreciate that families are marking these absences on Compass.

Monday’s 3-way conferences were a great opportunity to catch up with families and we enjoyed hearing students discuss their achievements with pride. It’s also great to set some goals and continue working together to support all the Grade 2 children.

We’ve launched into new topics in all subjects and the students are already grasping new ways of doing things. In Writing, we are learning to write persuasively. You may even get some requests for a new pet.

Also in Writing, we are celebrating the success of some of the Grade 2 children who entered the Kids News Short Story competition last term. We were proud enough that they entered their stories and were blown away when the results came through.

Congratulations to everyone who entered a story. It’s a great achievement and experience. We’ll keep the applause going for Finn C-L (Winner K-2 category), Adeline S (Highly Commended) and Shortlisted students Gilly GR and Rosie M. Here is a link to the article on kidsnews.com.au

In Science we have begun learning about water; where it comes from, how we use it, and the water cycle. Everyone is eagerly anticipating our excursion to CERES to support this learning, which takes place in Week 4. This week the students are making posters that show the cycle of water: Evaporation, Condensation, Precipitation and Collection.
