Wellbeing Team News

Breakfast Club News - A Thank you to our Volunteers!Breakfast Club has been busier than ever in Term 3, serving students hundreds of meals a week, helping them be fuelled well for academic excellence, sporting events, and more action across the term. Since the start of Term 2, the Breakfast Club team have been supported by a crew of incredible volunteers from Mrs Chong's Year 10 Active Volunteering Unit - they've made an incredible impact on the program, and we're so grateful for their help advertising through the yard, restocking our supplies, and keeping up with the chaos! A massive thank you to all students involved and Mrs Chong for their work - it doesn't go unnoticed!

Pssst... students!

Breakfast Club is on EVERY SCHOOL DAY! Come down to A12 in the Wellness Centre for a good feed before the start of Period 1 and some snacks for recess! See you there 😄

Blue Light EDGE @ HPSC! You read that right; the same group that brought discoes to Primary Schools is hosting their incredible Blue-EDGE program here at HPSC in Term 3! The program works to instil young people with important skills in healthy decision making and risk taking, healthy relationships; helps promote awareness around Mental Health and Wellbeing, Accessing local supports, and Safety in the Community; all in a fun and interactive way!

Group members have developed relationships with plain-clothes members of the local police - force, developing skills and an understanding around important issues for young people, while learning how to connect and reach out to different support systems.

Students involved have enjoyed a free breakfast, group personal training session, and skills workshop, each Thursday this Term - all courtesy of Blue Light Victoria. We're incredibly grateful for the opportunity to bring this program to the college this term, and just over the halfway mark, we're excited to see the progress to come with students involved!

Change Makers Program is underway in Term 3!

Local community organisations Jesuit social Services and South East Community Links have partnered together to bring the incredible Change Makers Program to HPSC this term! The program works with a group of Year 8 and 9 students to develop important interpersonal and social skills, helping them become leaders of positive change in our community. Students have worked with group facilitators to develop a range of skills around effective communication, upstander behaviour, building healthy relationships, healthy problem-solving, and more. Students have enjoyed a free meal and sports game with every session so far this term, and have developed close connections with local community support options; strengthening their awareness of available help for a range of issues.

We can't wait to see the incredible change the students lead after being involved in the program - great work so far boys!

Girls-Empowered!

As part of our mission to support students, Girls Empowered has been running for an additional term, dedicated to our junior female-identifying students covering topics self-confidence, mental health, navigating friendships and managing challenging emotions. We have been super fortunate to have extra support from the team at South East Community Links who have dedicated their time in coming out to deliver Respectful Relationships workshops to the program group. A massive thank you to everyone involved!
