Principal's Report

Dear Families,

Term 3 is a productive term of learning with a focus of future pathways and subject selections for the year ahead. It is also the last full term for our Year 12 students.

Student Led Conferences

Are scheduled for Wednesday 4th September, 12noon to 5.20 pm in person, 6.00pm to 7.30pm online via Teams.  Please take the opportunity to connect with staff, while students reflect on their learning progress. This event can create clarity about what a student is currently doing well, and where are the opportunities for improvement in order to finish semester two strongly.

Course Counselling

A big thank you to Ms Kelly Krieg for leading the course counselling process. To complete this important work, it always takes the collective effort of a team. Thank you to all teaching and support staff in particular the Careers Team for their work in supporting students.  Course Counselling is an essential aspect of our students' academic journey, ensuring they receive the guidance needed to make informed decisions about their future.

2024 NAPLAN Results

Last week NAPLAN results became available. NAPLAN testing occurred during Term1, merely weeks after our Year 7 students commenced at our college.  It is pleasing to note, many of our Year 9 students are performing higher than schools similar to ours. We will use the data to reflect on our work as we strive to improve learning outcomes for our students.

Student Awards

Last week, I had the pleasure of being invited to the Spirit of Anzac Award ceremony at Parliament House. Congratulations to our Year 10 student Mahdia Qasimi, she is one of 12 Victorian students who will travel to Turkey to walk in the steps of the Anzacs in Gallipoli. Mahdia's submission included a video presentation interviewing her grandmother and designing her own war memorial, emphasizing the recognition of women who have experienced war.

MBW 2024 International Taekwondo Tournament: Wida Hussaini, Year 10, represented Australia at the MBW 2024 International Taekwondo tournament in Malaysia and won a gold medal. Well done, Wida!

Parent and Staff Surveys

Thank you to the parents and carers who have taken the time to complete the Department of Education survey. As a school, we use this information to assess what we are doing well and helps identify the areas where further work and support is required.

Holocaust Museum Visits

Our Year 9 and 10 students will visit the Holocaust Museum, an essential part of our history curriculum that provides profound insights into past atrocities and the importance of tolerance and understanding. Thank you to students for upholding and demonstrating our school values of Respect, Learning and Working Together.

4 C’s Event at Bunjil Place

We are looking forward to the 4 C’s event at Bunjil Place, which promises to be an enriching experience for our students. Our students perform on Monday, 2nd September 2024.

This decision underscores our commitment to providing a respectful and supportive environment for our students. Work will commence soon, and we appreciate your patience during this period of improvement.
