Year 7, 8 & 9 Girls Shine in GD Footy Tournament
On Monday, 29 July, the Year 7, 8, and 9 girls participated in the Glenelg Division footy tournament hosted at Island Park Casterton. Competing against teams from Monivae, Portland Secondary, Bayview College, Baimbridge College and Good Shepherd/Heywood, our girls demonstrated skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Throughout the day, the enthusiasm and effort from all our players was evident. The girls showcased their determination and love for the game, leading to victories in three out of the five matches. Each game was filled with fun, laughter, and moments of brilliance that highlighted the girls' teamwork and commitment.
One of the standout aspects of the day was the spirit among the team members. Whether they were on the field or cheering from the sidelines, the girls supported each other, creating a positive and encouraging environment. This sense of sportsmanship played a crucial role in their success and made the experience enjoyable for everyone involved.
The tournament also provided an excellent opportunity for the girls to develop their skills and gain valuable match experience. Despite the challenges faced in two of the games, the girls remained resilient and learned important lessons that will undoubtedly contribute to their growth as athletes.
Sas Gould, Naomi Lee, and Ruby Hausler were the major goal kickers on the day. The better players were Sas Gould, Ava Murrihy, Marianna Novikov, Emily Spooner, Mhairi Mcdonald, and Rubi Thomas.
A special thank you goes to the teachers and staff who made this event possible. Their hard work and dedication ensured that the day ran smoothly and provided the girls with an unforgettable experience. We thank our umpires from College, Bailey Clarke and Finn Dennis, whose fair and consistent umpiring ensured enjoyable games. We also would like to thank Mr A, Miss Dixon, Max (Gapper), Mrs Bull (Nurse) and Bernie for their support and organisation, which were instrumental in making the day a success.
Congratulations to all the girls for their fantastic performances and for representing The Hamilton and Alexandra College with pride. We look forward to more exciting sporting events and achievements in the future.
Well done, everyone!

ICCES Cross Country Report
Another frosty early morning was endured in the hike down the highway to Melbourne for ICCES Cross Country. With the track having more grass than western Victoria farms, the running conditions were wet, muddy and slippery. These conditions didn’t stop eager College runners, and our undermanned squad finished the day with runners placing top 20 in their respective events.
As a result, the College placed second in four of the six categories and fourth overall. A big individual achievement goes to Yolanda O’Sullivan, who placed second in the junior girls' 3km. Big thanks to Miss Dixon for organising the team and Miss Krstonosic and Max St John for helping with the day.
