Grade 3/4 Unit
It has been a very busy start to Term 3 for the 3/4 unit. There have been many exciting learning experiences taking place.
We are preparing and practising the skills to begin our Reciprocal Reading groups. We look forward to beginning reading some chapter books and participating in many engaging discussions with our groups. Students will take on the roles of predictor, summariser, questioner, and clarifier and share their thoughts and opinions on the text.
In Writing, we have been linking our information texts with our Inquiry topic, “How does the Olympic Games support sustainability?” There has been lots of research completed, and we look forward to sharing our published pieces. The 3/4's have developed some wonderful ideas on how Dana Street can be sustainable as well.
In Maths, we have been working on our investigations that have involved making a 2D and 3D Olympic village. It has been great to see everyone diving into the learning pit and developing new strategies to problem-solve.
The excitement around our Inquiry is really building. We have enjoyed researching the Olympic Games and directed our research through the lens of sustainability. It has been great to meet experts in the sustainability areas. Inga from Land Care lead a very interesting and interactive session learning about land waste. We also were able to participate in an Ecolink webinar that helped us to become experts in sustainable lunch boxes. We look forward to working towards our Authentic Action and bringing a sustainability broadcast to you.
