Eastern Alliance for Sustainable Learning recently used Old Orchard Primary School as their highlight school in their quarterly progress report.

HIGHLIGHT SCHOOL- Old Orchard PS

Old Orchard Primary have been a ResourceSmart School since 2009, have three stars, and are working on their fourth star and module in energy. 

Led by Enza Orsini, the school have integrated sustainability by offering garden club to students, running a student body "Green Team" with grade 5 and 6 students, promoting Nude Food and running a Stephanie Alexander kitchen garden program. 

They also have an active switch off campaign, where they have continued to reduce their energy use by encouraging the school community to switch off lights and heaters when not in-use.

To date, the school have:

Reduced carbon emissions 80 tonnes of CO2-e

Reduced power use by 76,635 kWh.

Reduced water use by 3,116 KL.

Reduced waste by 65 m3
